X-Man New Year’s Special

New Year’s is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some awesome X-Man with a dose of holiday cheer!

I’m A Yoo Jae Suk Fan

I was on the Yoo Jae Suk soompi thread (yes, he has his own thread), and I came across this article:

Comedian Yoo Jae-seok rises as Hallyu MC

Comedian Yoo Jae-seok is about to become the country’s first ‘Hallyu MC,’ as his hit entertainment show which ended in March in Korea is garnering explosive popularity in China. Since airing on Sichuan TV from early this year, “X-Man” has topped the ratings for the first time among all other programs in the same time slot during the May 1st Labor holiday in China. It has since retained the top spot with its ratings climbing even higher. In the show, led by MCs Yoo and Kang Ho-dong, a group of select stars play games. The star cast, skillful emceeing and sincere game playing have proven to appeal greatly to Chinese viewers. Yoo has been compared to a top Chinese MC due to his friendly looks and warm presentation.  It has been difficult for MCs to join the Korean pop culture Hallyu wave in Asia because of the language barrier, but Yoo’s uniquely friendly and sincere persona has overcome all obstacles. Truly the No. 1 MC Yoo is undoubtedly the number one MC on all three of Korea’s terrestrial broadcast channels and beloved by producers and viewers alike. The shows he emcees post higher ratings than others. His presence is the key to a show’s popularity and the public has taken a great interest in him. His speech and talent is not necessarily far superior to other MCs, nor is he a strikingly good looking man. Then what is the reason behind his overwhelming status and popularity? He hosts many programs but he works to demonstrate a different presentation style for each and every show. It’s natural to assume the same MC would deliver the same lines and jokes on entertainment programs, but we do not see that pattern in Yoo’s various programs. Candid yet Considerate of guests MC Yoo is talented with words. His clean-cut, refined speech removes any worry of a broadcast mishap. But of course, he did not reach this level of ability overnight. He stuttered often as a reporter for an entertainment news program in his earlier years. In a well known anecdote, he once mixed up two separate reports and literally combined two different news segments. The public now highly regards this garrulous MC, but he went through abundant effort and trial-and-error to reach this point. It was because he went through this learning process that he is now able to MC five major entertainment programs. As an MC, you would want to stand out. You would tend to exaggerate to impress viewers. But Yoo has kept this obsessive urge at bay and has blurred the line between himself and the guests. He willingly pokes fun at himself for laughter and humor. His modest and humble image is why people applaud him and why he’s called the best MC. Although at the top of his field, Yoo displays none of the typical star attitude and arrogance. He pokes fun at others too but he is more willing to be self-deprecating and yet considerate of others. Another of MC Yoo’s trademark styles is to blend in with the guests.  His comedy never goes so far as to be unpleasant. Yoo’s ability is shown to the full in the current top rated reality/variety show “Infinite Challenge.” Yoo’s day to day life is a continuous cycle of recording and getting recharged. The filming of ‘X-Man’ continues throughout Monday night so that he cannot help but rest on Tuesdays due to his hoarse voice. At times, he says he regrets talking too much, but he can’t help it once recording starts and he gets in the mood. He records the talk show with his co-host Kim Won-hee on Wednesdays, ‘Infinite Challenge’ on Thursdays and ‘Happy Together – Friends’ on Fridays. On the weekends, he emcees for celebrity weddings and monitors his past week’s programs at home. He has nearly no private life. A firm belief in what he does, philosophical insight and undying passion are other facets of the friendly MC Yoo, which is why he remains at the top of the field in the 16th year of his career after a long decade of being unknown. He will visit Chengdu, China sometime between late June and July to promote his show. We hope that his hearty comedy will retain its innocence for many years to come.

I’m a HUGE Yoo Jae Suk fan. I think he’s hands-down the best MC in Korea. Kang Ho Dong’s a close second, but they have different MC styles.

X-Man Christmas Special!!!

I’m a huge X-Man fan. This show was pure GOLD. The following X-Man episode is their 2006 Christmas Special Part I. Guests: Son Ho Young, JunJin, Andy, Chae Yeon, Brian, Baek Ji Young, Tei, Eru, Nam Gyu Ri, Heechul, Siwon, and Park Jung Ah + X-Man cast.

“His face is already loved by God.” ROFL! Siwonnie’s always so bashful about his good looks.

“Park Jung Ah is an MC too!”

Park Jung Ah looked sooo different back then.

Kang Ho Dong gets hit in the head during the game of dodgeball. “As an entertainer, my face is important!”

The lightening effects for Son Ho Young’s muscle shot is so LOL.

Park Myung Soo would rather be out than save Kang Ho Dong. What a friendship.

After the bear comment, people were rolling on the floor laughing for real.

“Image? I’ve abandoned that long ago.”

Son Ho Young’s ab shot was so useless. Hahaha.

MC Haha accidentally hits Kang Ho Dong in the nuts. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junjin is so freaking hilarious when he moves around like a b-boy.

Park Myung Soo wants the MC chair so bad.

Park Myung Soo has the funniest look on his face when they are doing the star formations. Sagittarius formation and North Star formation don’t protect the reindeer. Hahaha.

Yunho Cuts on YSMM

DBSK’s Yunho was on YSMM, and he talks about stage malfunctions, dodging death, and early debut days.

Man, YSMM has really changed its format. I haven’t been keeping up with it, and watching these cuts made me realize just how different it is. 

“I want to make this clear…everyone thinks U-Know Yunho likes popping, right? But I actually like dances other than popping. Every time Kang Ho Dong sees me, he’s like…”

But then when he does his dance demonstration, he inevitably returns to popping. LOL!

“This kid is also mysterious. Even the dialect!”

“When performing dance songs, there’s a lot of sparks, isn’t there? In the end…but we have to keep our state and do the last move handsomely. My hair was burnt, but the sparks flew to my head. We can’t go ‘ahh!’ even though we really feel weird. We have to stay like that. My head hurts a lot, so I can only go…”

“The last movement is…and then the sparks fall (sparks fall on whole body)…When it really falls down, every single member, especially with the large sparks, dodge away.” LOL!!!!!!!!!

“Minwoo’s version is to point. But it got blocked by the other camera. Then after, the camera comes from one side. Minwoo then points to the camera.” ROFL!!!!

“Dancers go with the camera. The camera comes from the right, and we are dancing intensively. Looking at it, we feel dizzy.”

“When going down, near the legs, there’s a glitch. So we have to go down by ourselves. Coming up, it’s the same.” Hahaha!

“When going up, it’s shaking when rising. [Hold onto railing]“

Lee Seung Ki Love

I’ve been watching a lot of “2 Days 1 Night” lately. I’m loving Lee Seung Gi right now. He’s soooo cute and well mannered. He kind of reminds me of Kim Jong Kook personality-wise.

Gah, and of course, I love Kang Ho Dong. Too bad he won’t continue hosting “2 Days 1 Night”. MC Mong will take over the role, so it’ll be fine.

UPDATE: It was reported that Kang Ho Dong was leaving 1N2D. However, he’s continued hosting the show…soooooooo…false alarm???

Micky and Yunho on X-Man

This is a clip of U-Know Yunho and Micky Yoochun being introduced on X-Man.

Micky Yoochun singing Lee Seung Ki’s song was hilarious. “Only like a little brother…”

Oh my godfather…Micky’s dance…he takes pelvic thrusts to a whole new level.

Yunho pops-and-locks like there’s no tomorrow. MC Yoo Jae Suk and MC Kang Ho Dong’s reactions to Yunho’s dance are too funny. They get so excited, and they try to imitate the dances in the background.  LOL!

I miss Yunho on X-Man.

Kim Jong Kook X-Man Danyunahji

Kim Jong Kook’s Danyunahji style is to have one attack and extend it through the whole round. With Kang Ho Dong, he wisely went with the theme of eating.

Kang Ho Dong is so obnoxious when he plays Danyunahji. He’s not like that when he MCs.

“Yes! I ate! I ate!” Hahahaha.

When Shin Jung Hwan admitted he wanted to marry Kim Jong Kook, everyone was like, “Whaaaaa???” And then he got so embarrassed. Hahaha.

Kang Ho Dong’s English Adventures

In this clip, Korea’s resident English speaker and Fly to the Sky member Brian is trying to teach MC Kang Ho Dong how to say the word “share”. Kang Ho Dong butchers it, and it comes out sounding more like “cher”. Hahaha.

As much as I love Brian, I don’t think I would want him as my English teacher. He seems impatient. Hahaha.

Bi Rain Dancing

I miss the old Bi!!!!

He seems arrogant these days. Plus his career choices aren’t exactly A-list.

The MCs are so funny. You know you’re getting old when your neck starts cramping up.
